Sorry for the downtime…

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Hey everyone. Sorry for the blog being down for a little while. My company that hosts this site switched over to new servers and some of the databases got left behind but when we figured out what the problem was it was easy to fix. Anyway, I’ll be posting again soon.

I got a new quote I am thinking about for the homepage. It came from an 81 year old woman I was talking to in a Taco Bell one day not too long ago.

“The first hundred years are the hardest. After that, who cares?” She said laughing.

Ah, the Summer is so Great, so Beautiful… so Very Busy

In many of our lives, we rush from one thing to another. Hurrying everyday until we die or can no longer move. This is a sentiment that I am sure you have heard before, but how many of us really think about it?

In this summer I am running a company, writing the second draft of a novel, trying to become more healthy (which involves an almost daily work out routine), creating a world wide network, and in the mean time trying to keep a semi-decent social life. Today after going through my list of things to do I sighed at the site, seeing it was just an extension of the list that was yesterday’s things to do.

After accomplishing approximately 50% of the items on my list, which is kept safe in the iCal of my Mac laptop, I began to drive to my girlfriends house, which is a saturday regiment for me (not that I am complaining). As I began my route I saw in my path was a impending storm. At a traffic light others rolled up their windows but something kept me from doing the same.

As the rain started to fall and the wind blew, the water began to drop right into my car and onto my arm. As I felt the raindrops gently him me and the cool moist breeze coming into my car I smiled. In all the chaos of the day I finally was able to stop and think about all I have accomplished so far.

Instead of the to-do-list being half unchecked it suddenly became half checked. As I sat taking in the environment and driving relaxed (while still paying attention to the road of course) I was finally able to see something I hadn’t before. And that made all the difference in my summer day.

The Crash

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Three Days ago, while leaving my girlfriends house I was witness to one of the most incredible scenes I have ever seen.

As I pulled up to the stop sign and made a full stop, I looked right to see a gray car starting to turn left. What came as a shock was then when I turned left I saw a black compact car heading straight. Just as I did see this, I also heard the thunderous sound that was a mix of squealing brakes and honking horn.

Within Seconds the cars had collided in a roar of metal crashing together. The front passenger side corner of the gray turning car had hit the other car dead on center and smashed the front of it all the way back to the windshield.

Once the cars had stopped, after a moment of shock, I threw my car into park and ran to the scene which was only about seven feet from my own car. Out of the Black car came a young man who looked like someone from a Punk Rock band with jet black spiked hair and tattoos. In the grey car, which I then rushed to was an old woman who was still sitting in the seat still.

When I got to her car door I pulled on the handle to find it locked. She then looked over at me with confused eyes and pressed the button to unlock the door. I swung it open immediately.

The first words that were uttered out of her mouth as she looked at me dazed were, “What happened?”

I knew then she had not seen the car going straight and started turning without knowing the impact would occur.

I told her she was in a car accident and asked if she was alright which she responded to by saying “I hope I am. I am just coming home from a Physical.”

I had to smile at that. The irony was too much. She seemed fine and I helped her get her purse and get out of the car. She had scraped her knee on the dash but was otherwise fine, as it appeared at the time.

As I helped her out two other men were parking at the scene to help. One, a younger man of about college age, and the other was a man in his mid life. At once they both got on their cell phones and were calling Nine-One-One. I remained talking to the woman who kept asking me if it were her fault but I declined to answer saying that I didn’t know and that help was on the way.

With in what seemed like seconds the Police arrived and the ambulance was right behind them. I watched as the police were checking out the scene, completely ignoring me and the others though we were right there. And the EMT’s were checking out the old women who by that time I had found out was a widow who lived by my girlfriend and never had been in a car accident.

After checking out the scene, the officers came over and finally asked how I was involved. I briefly explained everything from seeing less than ten feet from my car to being first at the scene and helping out the woman. They took down my name and said I was free to go but I felt it was not right to leave yet so I help the woman get a few things from her car and offered the other guy a ride but he informed me his mother was coming so finally I left the scene.

As I looked back in my rear view mirror I saw the carnage that was two mangled cars and thanked god that no one was injured in what seem to be a very serious crash. I thought it to be, as I still think it to be a miracle.
